The purpose of the event is to support design\u2014mainly industrial design\u2014in the Pearl River Delta area by bringing together what they call \u201cThree Regions Cross Straits\u201d (Guangdong, China-Hong Kong-Taiwan) and link with other international players such as Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and the USA. <a href=\"http:\/\/global.midea.com.cn\/midea\/\">Midea<\/a>\u2014<a href=\"http:\/\/www.forbes.com\/global2000\/#p_1_s_a0_Household%20Appliances_All%20countries_All%20states_\">the world\u2019s number two household appliance manufacturer<\/a>\u00a0in sales, behind Whirlpool\u2014is based here.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.100percentdesign.co.uk\/page.cfm\/link=172\">Guangdong Industrial Design City<\/a> is a design innovation incubation centre that holds design studios and showrooms.
